From “Lucky” to Intentional
I’m not a die-hard St. Patrick’s Day person.
My mom called me “Lucky” all through my childhood.
Not “Luck.”
Lucky.
And it stuck.
It stayed with me long enough that I marked it permanently with a four-leaf clover anklet tattoo on my ankle. 🌿

Growing up, I absolutely loved Lucky Charms.
Related? Who knows.
Let me be honest:
Growing up, I didn’t feel lucky at all.
I wanted to be.
I grew up low income.
The right people seemed out of reach.
The right rooms felt closed to me.
I lived hidden for a long time.
I watched other people seem to “have it.”
Connections.
Confidence.
Opportunity.
And I thought maybe they were lucky.
I wanted that.
Wanting to Be Lucky
When you grow up believing you’re behind, you start searching for a way out.
Hoping someone notices won’t change anything.
Waiting for a door to open won’t either.
Being in the “right place at the right time” doesn’t guarantee it.
Luck alone won’t get you there.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
Luck isn’t something you wait for.
It’s something you replace.
The Work No One Sees
Over the last two years walking through training with MarkahVida, I’ve done deep internal work.
Not surface-level affirmations.
Real rewiring.
- Identifying scarcity thinking from childhood
- Recognizing where I shrink
- Seeing where I hide
- Challenging the belief that “the right rooms” aren’t for me
- Learning to manifest through the Lord instead of through fear
None of that is accidental.
Strategy shapes how time is spent.
Discipline protects your thoughts.
It takes commitment to not default back to old wiring.
And it looks a lot like running a business.
Business Is Not Built on Luck Either
People will look at someone’s business and say:
“You’re so lucky.”
But they don’t see:
- The systems built from scratch
- The financial reviews done monthly
- The uncomfortable cleanup projects
- The boundaries with clients
- The cash flow planning
- The steady discipline of reconciliation
A balance sheet doesn’t get reconciled by luck.
Cash flow systems don’t implement themselves.
Years of messy books aren’t cleaned up by chance.
Strategy does.
Faith does.
Stewardship does.
I Didn’t Land in the Right Rooms.
I Built My Way Into Them.
This is the part I wish someone had told me earlier:
You don’t wait to be invited.
Prepare.
Grow.
Develop.
Steward what’s in front of you.
And eventually, you don’t just walk into the room —
you belong there.
Not because luck found you.
Because you put in the work.
The Parallel
Rewiring your mind is like cleaning up your books.
You:
- Identify what’s broken
- Stop pretending it’s fine
- Get clarity
- Build systems
- Review regularly
- Stay disciplined
Feeling lucky doesn’t create financial stability.
Building does.
Hope doesn’t produce alignment.
Practice does.
From Lucky to Intentional
My mom called me Lucky.
Maybe she was already calling me forward before I even knew how to move.
Now I know this:
The things in my life that look like luck?
They came from:
Faith.
Strategy.
Discipline.
Determination.
Showing up even when I felt hidden.
Luck is a nickname.
It is not a strategy.
If you’ve been hoping luck would find you,
in your finances, your business, your life —
Maybe it’s time to stop waiting.
And start building.
